"A wine for the great outdoors!"
Whether it's a bush barbecue, a beach picnic or an outside table at a hip cafe, Australians love al fresco eating in warm weather. On the sunny shores of Mediterranean Europe, chilled pink wine is vital to the experience, but it doesn't quite rate here in Oz. It should. Farr Rising Pinot Noir Rose from Geelong has fragrant red berry and floral characters mellowed by old oak, juicy dry flavours and sherbetty zip. It's an excellent pink companion to fresh air, good food and good company.
Ralph Kyte-Powell, Sydney Morning Herald, 1st March 2014.

"Saignee is a winemaking term that means to "bleed off" the juice from red wine to make a concentrated, colourful, and flavourful style of rose. The use of barrel fermentation in By Farr's Saignee style complements the wine's beautiful strawberry and cherry fruit nose, by giving it a gamey, spicy complexity and a rich, textural mouthfeel. Finishing dry with serious length, this is definitely not your simple, quaffing rose and should be the perfect accompaniment to a cheese platter in the sun!"

'I always wanted to make rose that had pinot noir finesse, perfume; flavoursome, complex and fresh', says winemaker Nick Farr.

Rose petal, whiff of Turkish Delight, dusting of sweet spice. Juicy, more intensity than expected for the very pale colour. Touch of sweetness, builds into freshening acidity and shows some fine, sandy tannin to trim the wine down. Sophisticated wine here. Complex and intriguing. Very good example in the style.
