[SOLD-OUT] Escarpment Moana Pinot Noir 2006

"The 2006 Moana Pinot Noir is much earthier on the nose with a touch of forest floor, whilst the palate is almost tart with fresh ripe black cherries, boysenberry and a touch of cassis on the herbaceous finish. This is a vivacious Pinot Noir but needs another 2-3 years in bottle. Larry McKenna is a legend in Martinborough, indeed throughout New Zealand, the man who steered Martinborough Vineyards to international acclaim. Established in 1999, Escarpment's vineyards are located upon the alluvial loams in the "Te Muna" area that are blessed with good drainage and a cool summer microclimate. This is an impressive array of wines though I would prefer less extraction apropos the Pinot Noirs. Larry also introduced his range of single vineyard wines that will debut with the 2006 vintage and like Burgundy, there were tangible differences in character between these intense, full-bodied, still primal wines."
