[SOLD-OUT] Eric Chevalier Muscadet Sur Lie 2014

From a sustainably farmed, 50 year old Single Site!

"Eric Chevalier is one of France's most enigmatic and exciting winemakers. His father was a highly regarded grape-grower in the Loire and upon his retirement it appeared his venerable old sites might go by way of the tractor. That was until Eric decided to make wine from his father's vines.

Made from the Loire's Melon de Bourgogne grape in the Muscadet subregion, this wine is sourced from a sustainably farmed, old vine, single vineyard "Clos de la Butte". Vine age of over 50 years already elevates this a tier above the crisp and generally light Muscadets on the market, but this is also a refined expression of a Sur Lie, meaning it is aged on its lees for nine months, adding richness and texture, honeycomb and toast flavours. A superb example of modern Muscadet Sur Lie and a product of the revolution going on in the region that is being so talked about in the wine press.

Undeniably mineral, and therefore undeniably old world French, this wonderful Muscadet Sur Lie reaches its heights with floral notes, white nectarine and peach flavours. Lees work sees the contribution of honey and brioche adding complexity to the long, citrus finish. Completely delicious, it is a wine to fall in love with and enjoy right through the Spring." Wine House
