"Elmer T Lee is a Bourbon legend. After serving in the armed forces for four years after Pearl Harbour he returned to university in Kentucky, before starting work in 1949 in what was then known as the George T Stagg Distillery. There he worked with two bourbon recipes that have remained largely unchanged, as well as a rye recipe.
"We tend to think of Single Barrel and Small Batch bottlings as relatively recent developments, but Elmer T Lee can be credited with starting the trend 25 years ago.
"This one has lemon, orange and sour apple notes, then a wave of spice, before a smooth finish marked by a perfumey quality and some soft fudge. Dangerously quaffable"
