"Clear, full crimson-purple; it is a medium-bodied wine possessing elegance and complexity in equal quantities; the elegance stems from the fresh fruit and fragrance that reflects the controlled alcohol; the complexity comes from the spicy, gently foresty nuances picked up by the framework of quality oak, and the fine-grained tannins on the finish." - Wine Companion
"Toasty, smoky, almost bacon-y style of shiraz. Rich blackberry and plum with woodsy spice and that clear smoky overlay. Fine tannin but with just enough firmness to lend it a seriousness. This is warm and bold but it has shape and presence. There’s a peppermint character here too, so slight it’s barely more than a suggestion. Top territory here. Richness done well." - Campbell Mattinson, Wine Front
"We love the power in this 2019 expression of our Neil Ashmead Grand Tourer Shiraz. This wine is pressed off skins to allow for the last stages of fermentation in barrel. It remained on lees in barrel for several months post malolactic fermentation, to build mid-palate creaminess which balances the vibrant fruit in this wine. Whilst we love the bold new oak component in this wine, we seek to balance this with savoury volume and length. 2019 was a tough, dry vintage but the finished wine shows a robust strength of fruit with ample tannin to balance." - Elderton
