Elderton's Ashmead Cabernet Sauvignon " a single vineyard wine " sees French oak only, though one sniff and you don't need to be told.
No questions asked: this is a beautiful cabernet release from Elderton. Juicy, balanced, fresh, alive, ageworthy. Blackcurrant, dust, flings of dried herb, integrated spicy/sawdusty/sweet oak. It's up-and-about, vigorous, keen to please and yet lengthy. You could drink it any time over the next 15-20 years and be impressed.

An opulent Barossa cabernet that is a superb example of the big style. Toasty oak, black olive, black cherry, chaff and cheosote aromas suggesting a long time in wood. It's generous to the point of decadent. Oak and alcohol are balanced.

Smouldering sexiness - it's not quite elegant, nor trying to be, but has seductiveness in texture, an inward concentration, rippling black fruit flavours and density given by fine, cedary oak. Power yet drinkability, and long term cellarable.
