Made in a peppery, spicy, herbaceous, earthy style, it exhibits a dark plum color, an intensely aromatic cassis and pepper-scented nose, a lush entry on the palate, and succulent, low acid, rich, concentrated flavors with more tannin than the 1997. Already drinkable, the 1996 is appealing for its intense fragrance and rich flavors."
