“Pale gold. Intensely aromatic with rose petals and lychees – sounds so clichéd but that is what it is like. It is hard to believe the stated alcohol because although this is deeply scented, it is supremely delicate and has the freshness to balance. A little more oily and viscous on the finish but floats like a much lighter wine. ”

Bright yellow. Smoky saline nuances to the fresh citrus and spice aromas on the discreet nose. Then fresh and lemony on the palate, offering sneaky concentration. Peppery acidity firms the long, salty, slightly bitter finish (5.8 g/l residual sweetness and 4.3 g/l total acidity). Made from sites around Turckheim that are stony and quite hot, this wine needs time. I’d cellar it for at least another year to see how it develops.
