"Fruit comes from plots planted on clay and limestone totalling 0.5Ha in Chambolle Musigny & Morey St Denis, planted in 1968 & 1998. The wine reflects the personality of the Cotes-du-Nuits, where structure and acidity are hallmarks. Flavours are dark-berried, with distinct spicy character and tending towards some smoked meat. Chewy tannins fill out into a textural, rustic-tinged experience.
The Taupenot family have been growing grapes on the fabled slopes of the Côte d’Or since the 17th century. The Domaine as we know it today has a much more recent past, coming into existence in 1963 as the family settled their winemaking around the village of Morey-Saint-Denis.
The ‘house style’ of winemaking is to fully destem all reds are fully de-stemmed before being cold soaked prior to natural ferments kicking off. There is a judicious yet confident use of quality oak in the top tier wines, minimal sulphur is used, and wines are traditionally bottled unfiltered. All of these ‘decisions’ are made to ensure that across all levels and appellations the wines deliver outstanding quality whilst expertly representing the terroir that they hail from." - Wine House
