'It's the wine of the moment and the talk of the town, mainly because it's a complex, fruity young red that's balanced and interesting and a world away from the high-oak, high-alcohol wines for which Australia has become famous. This is arguably the Yarra Valley's best red wine right now. Meaty, cherried, succulent and sure. Brilliant.'
Campbell Mattinson, Gourmet Traveller Wine, April/May 2006.
'Wow. Made from the original 30-year-old shiraz (syrah) vineyard at De Bortoli's Yarra Valley winery that supplied the grapes for the Jimmy Watson winner in 1978, this absolutely gorgeous red wine. A stunning perfume of pepper and black cherry leads onto a fine, succulent, juicy mouthful of yumminess.'

Tyson Stelzer 94 points!'Shiraz everywhere in the English-speaking world outside Australia is called Syrah. Who knows why? I guess we just wanted to be distinguish ourselves the Americans. Label translation over, the wine presents an alluring and complex bouquet, with lifted, ripe plum/cherry/berry fruit, savoury spice and pepper. The palate is an accurate replica, but stepped up a notch - intense but elegant, with great length and fine, firm tannins. Another outstanding shiraz from De Bortoli.'
