"It might lack its customary richness, but this is a fine effort from a hot year. Fiery aromas of dark plums, blackberries and restrained cedar/vanilla oak with undertones of cloves, nutmeg and baked earth precede a firm, dark and minty palate. Robust and astringent, with a sound length of cassis, blackberries and chocolatey oak, it finishes fractionally raw-edged, with lingering suggestions of menthol. It needs time."
