"This is an exciting, modern take on Pyrenees Shiraz, with warm spice, star anise, bright raspberries and an ethereal minerality. Fruit was sourced from the original 'The Eagle' Vineyard on the Dalwhinnie estate in the heart of the Pyrenees. This high-altitude site is well suited to the production of complex Shiraz and Chief Winemaker Julian Langworthy wanted to celebrate the beauty of this single vineyard with a unique, new school expression of this varietal.
The Shiraz underwent wild fermentation (40% whole bunches) with native yeasts, before being pressed to older, large format oak for 12 months' maturation. This simplistic, hands-off winemaking has ensured the LDR Shiraz is a true 'nouveau' expression of The Eagle Shiraz; a bright, fresh and modern take on this iconic Dalwhinnie wine.
Upon its release, the 2022 LDR Shiraz is leaving a trail of Trophies and Gold Medals in its blaze at national shows across Australia, including winning the Trophy for Best Shiraz at the Perth Royal Wine Awards." - Dalwhinnie
