"Rich and brooding; earthy and savoury. All the forest floor leaves, root vegetables and meaty elements. Impressive density with elegance, a Pinot to enjoy with age."

"2009 Crittenden Estate THE ZUMMA has that characteristic red-berry fragrance with spices and whole berry nuances adding complexity. The palate has excellent depth of flavor and good flesh. I'm a big fan of this *says Pearce]; lovely fruit with nice funky notes and slight stemmy influence. Complex with well handled oak and balanced tannins. It's the best Crittenden Pinot we've tasted!"

"Quite penetrating and aromatic nose of cherry fruit and earth. Fresh raspberry and wood palate, textured and layered. Well done, with silky tannins and freshness, vivid purity and flavour."

"Winemaker Rollo Crittenden explains Zumma was his sister Zoe's childhood nickname, then it later became the moniker for the family vineyard with its now 30-year old pinot noir vines. The '09 is loaded with intense deep dark cherry and compote fruit yet super fresh, too, with a hint of raspberry, layers of spice and cedary notes and really dense with plush, ripe velvety tannins tempered by bright acidity. A complex, bold expression of Mornington Peninsula pinot noir that needs to be tamed with food or cellared for a few years."
