"The Crawford River vineyard lies at the alluvial edge of a volcanic lava flow. The 11.5 Ha vineyard has its roots in an unusually complex, mineral-rich soil base. Gravelly, friable, basalt loam overlays  permeable clay which in turn lies above a limestone base created by an ancient, risen seabed.

Bright, fresh floral elements are the primary impression given by this young wine.  Spice and texture underpin the soft palate, which shows even structure with lively acidity.  Elegant throughout, with hints of oyster shell and citrus peel."

 Planted in 2000, the block from which Crawford River source the fruit for this Riesling is hardly "young" anymore, although it is considerably youthful in comparison to their 1975-planted original block. Crawford River Riesling is renowned everywhere for its persistence of flavour, a delicate balance between floral, citrus and minerality. Their wines are perfectly pitched masterclasses in poise, with taut acid balancing out a round, textural palate. This should be your go to wine for Summer. Hailing from the long, even ripening of 2017, a vintage fast becoming recognised as "a Riesling vintage", it is pure and fresh from its whole bunch pressing, capturing free run juice only, and made gently richer by a short maturation on lees before bottling.
