"Our Sparta vineyard was planted 25 years ago on a north facing hillside on the western boundary of our property. It is our only vineyard to face due North and produces a vibrant red fruited and rich style of Shiraz. It is largely planted with a very old Shiraz clone called the ‘Bob Hardy’. The vineyard is surrounded on all sides by Kalamata and Koroneiki olive trees that we process into table olives on the estate. There is a further Greek connection as the property was originally owned by a Greek family who originated from the countryide surrouding Sparta in Greece.
Sparta is made to highlight the fruit and floral notes of McLaren Vale Shiraz with good density and medium structure. The style is bright, rich and full bodied." - Coriole
