Thirty years after first planting sangiovese in Mclaren Vale, the Coriole winery still consistently produces one of Australia's finest examples of the variety which makes the sub-$30 price rather attractive. Deceptively pale red in the glass, this wine is full of typical sangiovese black cherry and dusty earth aromas, and is terrifically savoury in the mouth with fine, gently raspy tannins that make you crave garlicky, herby grilled steak or juicy rosemary scented lamb chops.
