"The normal vineyard used for Coriole's second flagship wine, the Mary Kathleen Cabernet Merlot, did not fare well in 2008 (no wine made). In 2009 Coriole had the opportunity to source some excellent fruit from the Adelaide Hills. For those who know and love Mary Kathleen, this provides an apt reason to see what deft winemaking does with fruit from another region. For those new to the wine, here is your entree before returning to the usual Mary Kathleen sourced from the normal three vineyards adjacent to the cellar door at Coriole.
Adelaide Hills was spared the heat of 2009, and while you don't often see Cabernet coming from this region, we found this to be a beautifully elegant expression of this classic blend. Needless to say, it was so good we wouldn't mind if Coriole made another Adelaide Hills Cabernet next year. Utterly approachable now, but it will age too!"
