"A veteran blend showing blue fruits, subtle oak spice, mulberry and tarry complexity. Swirling supple texture on the palate, the flavours follow aromas and structure is really nicely sculpted " brilliant stoic class here."

"Fine-grained, long and linear, with a depth and length of fruit that slowly emerges from the glass. Its fragrance of cassis, raspberries, small black fruits, fresh cedar/vanilla oak is lifted by a fragrance of violets and dusted with a scent of dried herbs, a hint of meatiness and baked earth. Underpinned by fine, crunchy tannins, it's long, vibrant and juicy, finishing with pleasing length and refreshing acidity. Very elegant, tightly honed and balanced."
Jeremy Oliver, The Wine Annual 2011
Mary Kathleen is named after Mary Kathleen Lloyd, one of the founders of Coriole. It is produced from three small vineyards at Coriole, planted between 1968 and 1984. First produced in 1992. The proportion of Merlot generally varies between 10% and 30% although 1994 vintage was Merlot dominant. The style is dependent on vintage conditions and in general shows black currant aromas with a well structured medium weighted palate that will reward cellaring for over 10 years. Tasting Brief: 2007 "Mary Kathleen" Cabernet / Merlot 2007 Aromatics of redcurrant, ripe mint and perfumed rose petals. With breathing, polished wood and a smokey cigar box aromas become evident. The palate shows bright fruit - lifted berries and blackcurrant with a creamy texture. A brooding wine with structural tannin and good length. As with previous vintages of MK, this 2007 will age long and gracefully.
