[SOLD-OUT] Clyde Park Estate Block D Pinot Noir 2012

Gary Walsh 95 Points!

"Geelong Pinot Noir lovers take note: this is a wine for you. Deeply layered with cherry fruit flavour, backed by savoury charcuterie notes and forest floor earthiness, this beautifully structured Pinot is competing with the heavyweights of the region as one of the best wines of the vintage. Made lovingly and crafted with uncompromising quality, this is made in such tiny quantities that it is unlikely to meet demand. A Pinot that will age gracefully for many years, it is a welcome addition to the shelves."

"Clyde Park has created this Pinot Noir from a single block "D", was planted on our south facing slope of the Moorabool in 1998 to the MV6 clone. The block is very steep, 45m elevation from top to bottom! This vintage was harvested by hand on February 22th, 2012, 30% whole bunch, wild fermented in small open fermenters for 10 days, pigeaged twice daily, then on skins post ferment. Pressed gently, placed in French oak " 35% new.

Dark cherry, spice, earth/beetroot, floral. Light to medium bodied, tense, curious peach iced tea flavours, brisk acid, minerally " long term acidity " and an equally long finish. Unrepentant. Built for cellaring. Very impressive."

"This is a dark coloured, big-framed pinot noir, which shows a lot of oak and a full body. The flavour is rich and dense with loads of extract and tannin.. it's robust and will live long. It could turn out to be the sleeper of the range."
Huon Hooke, Gourmet Traveller Wine Feb/March 2014.
