"Suduiraut is undeniably one of the great estates of Sauternes, and has been even more consistent as well as brilliant since its acquisition by AXA. Just down the road from Yquem, abutting Yquem’s vineyards on the north, is the large, beautiful estate of Suduiraut. Suduiraut can be one of the great wines of Sauternes. For example, the 1990, 1989, 1988, 1982, 1976, 1967, and 1959 are staggering examples of Suduiraut’s potential. At its best, Suduiraut turns out very rich, luscious wines that in blind tasting can be confused with Yquem…"

Luminous copper. Full and round and very opulent. Round and full and clean and open on the nose. Though not desperately subtle. More almonds on the nose. Very round, not especially complex but clean and bumptious and again with a slightly burnt undertow. Full finish, rather opulent and exciting.
