What strikes you straight off, is its sense of completeness. There's no gaps or holes when you taste it; it just is. Here I am. Behold. And what presence it has. Dark fruit, slight peppery notes, perfect oak, perfectly integrated. Such depth of fruit married to superb ripe tannin. Power: the 'controlled aggression' that's so typical of Latour. Amazing wine. Everything packed into its suitcase for a very long journey. Somewhat inscrutable as a young wine, of course, and not to be approached for a minimum of 20 years.
