The proprietor is not alone in thinking this is the finest Ducru Beaucaillou since the 1961. The classic wet rock, creme de cassis, subtle oak and gravelly stoniness of the vineyard come through in this spectacular, full-bodied, gorgeously pure and intense effort. This is wine for the ages that should be forgotten for at least a decade. "

"Heaps clove and cedar oak causing a fair old din, but brilliant clarity of fruit to match it. Blackcurrant, aniseed, coffee, so fresh and well knit, tannin is very fine, almost feathery, but tight and makes its presence felt as the wine takes air. Length soars. There's a little warmth from alcohol here, but the fruit envelops it and there's superb freshness " no clunky porty characters at all. Great wine. Long term."
