Robert Parker 92 points!The gorgeous 1997 Nine Popes (a blend of old vine Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre) offers aromas of kirsch, cherry jam, raspberries, roasted peanuts, and herbs, terrific fruit intensity, full body, copious glycerin, and a mid-palate that suggests low yields and old vines (80-100 year old Grenache vines). Beautifully made and fun to drink, this is Australia's version of Chateauneuf du Pape. Drink it over the next decade.
