"America, look out! This astonishing zin has an explosively floral fragrance of blueberries, blackberries and sweet charry, perfumed oak backed by spicy, meaty undertones. Deep and alluring, it's silky-smooth but stacked with layers of enticingly dark and luscious red and blue berries, handsome smoky oaky and roast meat influences, finishing with exceptional balance and elegance. Supported by very fine-grained and dusty tannin, it glides effortlessly towards a long, lingering and savoury finish with persistent notes of bitumen."

Huon Hooke 92 points!"This is one of the best
Mentelle zinfandels of recent times. Ironstone aromas plus hints of jam and wood among a complex array of aromas. Smooth, rich, savoury with drying tannins and lots of gravitas. Not a lot of finesse or subtlety but stacks of flavour and character."
Huon Hooke, Sydney Morning Herald, May 2010
"This is the best Mentelle zin I've ever tasted on release. Sweet, slightly peppery fruit on the nose and a hint of
attractive eucalypt. Yum."
Tim White, The Age, May 2010
"This wine is sought after by its many admirers. With its deep crimson hue and a fruit spectrum ranging from ripe blackberries to fresh prunes with hints of chocolate, cinnamon and fruit cake spice, it's no wonder Zinfandel from Cape Mentelle has such a cult following! This hedonistic wine entices with its layers of ripe currants over plums carefully coordinated in a full, creamy and textural palate. Not one for the faint-hearted, but not one to be intimidated by either"
