The quality though is not in doubt. This is a grunty, gruff, substantial wine, fragrant and handsome. Earth, twigs, autumn leaves, undergrowth. There's fruit flavour here, dense and black cherried, but fruit is neither the first nor last impression. Beetrooty characters here. Handfuls of spice and nutty, smoky oak. Stuffed full of fascination."
