[SOLD-OUT] Buller Calliope Durif 2014

The Calliope Durif's latest release shows consistency in style and quality. Durif has been grown in the Rutherglen area for nearly 100 years. It makes wines of intense colour and great flavour with a strong tannin structure, just like the Calliope Durif. We have been fortunate to have had a run of excellent vintages. 

CALLIOPE is the name of our original vineyard at Rutherglen. Reginald Buller named the property after the warship of that name, one of the few survivors of the Great Hurricane at Samoa in 1889. A.B.(Banjo) Paterson’s stirring ‘Ballad of the Calliope’ records the event.

Our Calliope label is reserved for outstanding vintages. It is dark red in colour, with aromas of ink, violets and plums with nuances of toasty mocha. The flavours of forest fruits integrate with the tannins to provide structure and finish. Buller Wines Calliope Durif may be drank on release but will repay cellaring for 8 to 10 years.
