[SOLD-OUT] Bress Gold Chook Old Vine Chablis 2014

"The Bress 2014 Old Vine (Vieilles Vignes) Chablis was bottled and packaged in France.  Some time in bottle has allowed the wine to rest, and we now believe it is ready to share with you. Adam is most impressed and very excited about how the 2014 vintage has been expressed and believes 2014 in Chablis could be considered to be a text book vintage.

A long growing season produced Chardonnay fruit with purity of flavor and superb natural acidity.  Made from 60 year old vines, our resultant wine has expressed these characters in a considered manner exhibiting the Bress hallmarks of complexity, structure and the ability to enjoy presently yet with the capacity to age for ten or more years in sound conditions

This collaboration has not only given us a simply beautiful product to share with you, it has also resulted in greater cultural and winemaking awareness for both families, not to mention long lasting friendships."

“I wanted to do this for years, then met this really lovely woman from Chablis at VinExpo and we started talking”, says Adam Marks. Marks travels and has been travelling to Chablis to work for the past few years. “I wanted us to go to her and make chardonnay and her to send one of her winemakers to come over and do the same in Macedon, with a swap across countries of some wines”. It happened. Another well-priced wine from Bress. Steely, wet slate whiffs over green apple and nectarine scents with a lifted character of fern or herbs. Has a lot going on. Crackles in the palate with crunchy fruit, lean, pure drive of acidity, mineral-water like minerality. It’s tight, refreshing, feathery and vibrant. Mouthwatering and crystalline and a touch of savouriness. Cracking.”
