Background: This super-premium Shiraz is sourced entirely from the original, 100-year-old vines on the acclaimed Laira Vineyard, and is named after Captain Stentiford, the English sea captain who established the vineyard in 1893. The Coonawarra experienced an exceptional vintage in 2000, with minimal rainfall, warm days and cool nights.
Colour: Magenta with a garnet hue.
Bouquet: Complex and displays deep plum, spice and mulberry primary fruit aromas accompanied by barrel and bottle ageing characters of toffee, dark chocolate, dusty cedar and cinnamon.
Palate: Rich, intense and complex palate displaying ripe plum, blackcurrant, spice and mulberry primary fruit flavours with well integrated spicy cinnamon, burnt toffee, chocolate and dusty cedar oak characters. The palate has a very long, fine-grained tannin finish.
