Braida Montebruna Barbera d'Asti 2020

AN AROMATIC NEBBIOLO WITH SUBTLE HINTS OF EARTH AND SAVOURY SPICE

"Aromas of cherry chocolate, dark licorice, hints of bark and moist earth. Full-bodied with velvety, supple tannin structure and some chalky texture in the finish. Juicy and flavorful. Drink now." James Suckling

"The 2020 Barbera d'Asti Montebruna is a plump and rich red with ripe berry notes, toasted spice, cinnamon and grilled Mediterranean herb. Despite the heft and brawn of this wine, the mouthfeel is pushed along by fresh acidity and a powerful 15% alcohol content. This is perfect companion to a meal heavy in cheese or cream." - Monica Larner

"Montebruna is a wine that speaks of its land. The vineyards are located in Rocchetta Tanaro, a narrow hilltop ridge just outside of Asti. In contrast to nearby Barolo and Barbaresco, this area is characterised by patches of dense, misty forest and grassy hillsides.

The texture of the soil, which is on the heavier side, produces wines which are intensely aromatic with slightly savoury flavour characteristics. This wine has distinctive aromas of black cherries, smoke and earth, and the palate is lush with black fruit, spice and minerality." - Enoteca Sileno

"Purplish ruby red colour. Very evident scents of ripe cherry and red berries. The flavour is deep, full and harmonious, with a persistent finish that lingers on the palate, ending with a hint of almond. Excellent, balanced, fragrant and very easy to drink, it accompanies pasta dishes, red and white meats, cheeses and cured meats." - Braida
