[SOLD-OUT] Braida Montebruna Barbera d'Asti 2017

WINE SPECTATOR 93 POINTS! JAMES SUCKLING 93 POINTS!

"Montebruna is a wine that speaks of its land. The vineyards are located in Rocchetta Tanaro, a narrow hilltop ridge just outside of Asti. In contrast to nearby Barolo and Barbaresco, this area is characterised by patches of dense, misty forest and grassy hillsides. The texture of the soil, which is on the heavier side, produces wines which are intensely aromatic with slightly savoury flavour characteristics.

This wine has distinctive aromas of black cherries, smoke and earth, and the palate is lush with black fruit, spice and minerality. Notes of red berries, mint and vanilla. The bouquet is rich, aromatic and complex with a remarkable intensity and multilayered concentration. The wine is generous, voluptuous and full-bodied with a multidimensional structure, perfectly balanced between the grape characteristics and high quality oak, with a persistent long finish." - Braida

"A dense and brooding red, this displays rich black cherry, blackberry, vanilla and chocolate aromas and flavors. Not as fluid as some of its peers, but complex, solid and long." - Wine Spectator

"Extremely pretty bouquet here of brambleberry bush, chocolate, mocha-scented oak and cocoa. Full body, refreshing acidity, some really nice structure and a chewy finish." - James Suckling
