"#4 in 20 Macedon Pinot Noirs tasted. Good depth of red-purple colour, with a beautifully perfumed bouquet of red and darker cherries, subtle notes of spice and dried flowers, the palate full and round with refined texture and fleshy extract, the flow seamless and long-lingering. Multi-dimensional and tremendously long in the mouth, with effortless power. Simply, a terrific pinot noir.

After tasting the wines as a blind line-up, and after the reveal, I kept going back and forth, re-tasting them, and trying to figure out the pricing strategy. The Kaye, and especially the Dixon, seemed right up there with the AUD $170 wines, so we’d have to deduce that it’s partly a supply thing: the single-block wines are probably in very limited supply, whereas the Dixon is a blend of many blocks, and there’s more of it." - Huon Hooke

 

 

"The 2022 Dixon spent 10 months in barrel and was bottled in early March. This wine is a composition of sections of the original 1988 planting and the 2001 Kaye vineyard. It has a lifted nose of red and black cherries, wild strawberries, earth and spice. The palate is fresh, supple, builds in texture and has vibrant and intense length. As always, it will be more complex, silky and flowing in three plus years and be enjoyed for a decade or more." - Bindi Wines
