Best's Bin 0 Shiraz, crowd and critic favourite alike. A traditional gem but a star modern performer to boot.

This release is up there with the best of them. It's everything you'd hope for from this wine. Built on acid and tannin but with no shortage of ripe, silken fruit. Plum, mint, cloves and musk, with mere flecks of pepper and spice. Everything in perfect harmony and balance. If I had to single anything out, I would note that the tannin profile here is particularly impressive.

"Such charm that it' impossible not to fall for this vintage right away, yet it's built with the stamina for long endurance. Great intensity meets medium-bodied grace in a core layered with violets, Satsuma plums, blueberries and black cherries. Nuances of liquorice, high cocoa dark chocolate and vanilla flash by along the way, but the focus remains resolutely on brilliantly defined dark fruits. Mineral-fine, tightly structured tannins point to great things in the next decade."

"This is right up there with the 2010 release although its structure may put it ahead by a nose. Flavour and aroma wise it runs along similar lines. Essence of plums and cherries, blueberry highlights, pepper and nutmeg spice, integrated choc-vanilla oak and violets. Velvety with impressive dynamics and superb depth. Long-strand tannins draw out the conclusion in a truly satisfying manner. Enjoyable now but built for the cellar."

"Deepish red/purple colour. Fragrant licorice and raspberry, red cherry and spice aromas, the palate refined and intense with superb focus and penetrating flavour, in an elegantly weighted package. Star anise; a little peppermint emerged later. Lots of detail. Long, long finish. A lovely fine wine of great focus and precision.
