"A wonderful vintage of a justly famous wine. Bright clean, dark-fruit and mint aromas, then a richly fleshed palate with profound fruit flavour and fine texture. Touches of spices and brazil nuts. True elegance, great line and length."

"There's a bit more flashy new oak to this wine than there once was, but I have no doubt that these flavours will settle down into the wine, given time. It is, of course, a wine deserving of time. The oak is gluey and creamy and cedarwoody, and comes attached to pure, medium-weight, cherry-plummed fruit flavour. Gorgeous, juicy acidity more or less completes the picture. There are dried herb/lavender/violet-like notes to the aftertaste, some of which seem oak-derived and some fruit. It's all early days. This wine needs to compose itself, but it will one day be known as a top release."

"Vibrant and lustrous, this deeply perfumed and elegant shiraz has a heady, almost pinot-like bouquet of violets, sweet small red and black berries, cherries knit tightly with fine-grained aromatic vanilla and backed by nuances of cloves and musk. Long and seamless, it's polished and smooth, medium to full-bodied, with a complex, reductive expression of bright, jujube-like fruit backed by smoky, meaty influences and underpinned by smooth al dente tannins. It finishes with dusty, stalky undertones and is likely to build in weight with time in the bottle."
