"Lighter style, red cherry, dusty almost Fernet Branca scent, orange peel and spice. Juicy blood orange tang, red fruited, aniseed/liquorice root, more acid driven, with again a dusty feel to tannin, and a crisp finish of solid length. Nebbiolo, but distinctly regional. "Ben Haines built his name as the Chief Winemaker at Mt Langi Ghiran winery. Ben works with special sites across Victoria, crafting small batches of impeccable wines that tell the stories of these great sites. He makes this Nebbiolo from the Malakoff vineyard, a famous site in the Pyrenees region and notably for its Nebbiolo. 2017 has delivered almost textbook perfect conditions for Nebbiolo. After a wild ferment and extended time on skins, the tannins softened beautifully.
