[SOLD-OUT] Bannockburn Stuart Pinot Noir 2011

The Stuart Pinot Noir usually weighs in around 13% alcohol and yet this 2011, from a wet and cool vintage, is 13.7%. Just goes to show that not everything is intuitive. Winemaker Michael Glover says of the 2011 vintage "a cooler and wetter (kinder) vintage was always going to assist with perfume, restraint and elegance but what about texture, tannin and power?"

Ok so this is sappy and herbal and riddled with notes of crush leaf, and that isn't everyone's bag. That style proviso aside, it's a belter of a wine. Nutty, powerful, compellingly tannic and insistently long. Power and personality. Maximum spice. It's an arresting pinot noir.
