Organic
Named for Bannockburn founder Stuart Reginald Hooper, our SRH Chardonnay uses fruit sourced from our oldest Chardonnay vines at Olive Tree Hill Vineyard.
The 2015 growing season was moderately warm and dry. Fresh, cool stone fruits are complemented by citrus acids; complexity arrives via lees contact, natural ferment and MLF with the characteristic saline/oyster shell aromatics of the site beginning to emerge. Wine to enjoy now or to cellar.
Whole bunch pressed to tank, settled overnight and then racked to 1300l French oak cask for fermentation.
Indigenous yeast primary and secondary fermentation, minimal stirring and aged on lees for eighteen months before bottling.

"Bouquet opens with quince and white vinegar scents, green herb and faint mescal, green apple too. The palate has more of the quince and vinegar going on, licks of halva amongst barely ripe peach flavours, a muffled support of woody spice in there. Texture is quite lovely and the wine ripples in its idiosyncratic way to a salty finish. 93 pts."
