[SOLD-OUT] Bannockburn Sauvignon Blanc 2012

"The 2012 vintage of this wine is comprised of 92% Sauvignon Blanc, 4% Riesling and 4% Chardonnay. This year 1/3 of the Sauvignon Blanc was fermented on skins to give back-palate grip and structure as well as flavour complexity. The Sauvignon Blanc was fermented in 1/4 new French oak and Italian acacia puncheons by indigenous yeasts and remained on lees for almost ten months to enhance the texture of the wine. The Riesling component provides subtle aromatic perfume and the Chardonnay provides extra weight and body to the wine."

"'You know,' Michael Glover says, 'I look forward to the day that the straight-jacket varietal nomenclature is removed from the label and total freedom is allowed to reign supreme'. You have to forget what you're drinking " if you're looking for sauvignon blanc, you'll tie yourself up in knots " and just go with the ride this wine offers. It has sweet fruit, a variety of textures (from chalky, almost grainy/spritzy, to soft), a herbal inflection to the finish and various smoky, savoury nuances between. As is often the way with Glover's wines " it took some time to come around to this, but I ended up loving it."
