Nick Stock 95 Points!"An impressive Tally that's working itself into shape; best given more time, though. Impressive concentration and ink-black colour, boot polish, olive, mint and cassis " a classic Balnaves Coonawarra nose " backed up by toasty cedary French timber and some dark-purple florals. The palate wraps plenty of tannin around ripe, rich dark-berry fruits. This has breathtaking concentration."
Nick Stock, The Good Wine Guide 2011
Gary Walsh 95 points!"Plenty of toasty creamy mocha oak over rich cassis and dark chocolate/licorice/mint fruit. It's full bodied and stacked with firm powdery tannins married to a plush, plump sweep of dark fruit. Acidity a little obvious at this stage but fairly certain to settle. No complaints of the length. Typical Tally style - full throttle, takes no prisoners and demanding of a long stretch in the cellar to cool its boots."
Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, Jun 2010
Matt Skinner Top 5!"Only made in exceptional vintages, The Tally is the flagship offering from Balnaves and consistently ranks as one of the regions finest reds. As stylish and as controlled as ever, and from the textbook 2008 vintage, expect masses of dark berried fruit woven together with smells of cool earth, spice and cedar, while once inside your mouth the palate is full, firm, and intense with moderate acidity and fine grippy tannins providing the framework. Built to go the distance and hands down one of the wines of the year."

Jancis Robinson 17.5 points!"Dense, chocolatey, black olive, black cherry - power with grace. Firm but pliant tannins. Deserves cellaring. Impressive."
