Gourmet Traveller 98 Points!Elegant and quite complex with tight, powerful cherry/berry fruit flavours and an underlying sappy, savoury mineral character that lifts the wine. A classic pinot from a good year.
Bob Campbell, Gourmet Traveller Wine August/September 2013.
Tyson Stelzer 96 Points!" While many in New Zealand struggled in the warm 2011 vintage, Ata Rangi shone. Early seed ripening produced impressive structure, emphasised with 20 percent whole bunch fermentation, more than usual for Ata Rangi. The definition of black cherries, blackberries and violets is exemplary, framed in a tightly-honed and well-defined structure, with a coiled spring of tannin tension and refined mineral definition. Notes of liquorice and coal make this an intense Ata Rangi, though lacking nothing in poise and magnificence."
Tyson Stelzer, Wine Taste Weekly Ed. 112, May 2013
A lighter, fresher style this vintage. Cherry, almost to cherry jam, mint and a little smoky herbal character " pretty. Lively pippy raspberry acidity and flavour, low tannin and not a lot of depth, but good length. Carries some tangy bitter herbal characters, especially in the finish. A good wine, I get the feeling time will be kind to it.

"Ata Rangi is rated internationally as a leading producer of Pinot Noir, making wines of unique site expression from vines planted in 1980. Thanks to a frost-free 2011 vintage, with a perfect growing season, Ata Rangi has produced a Pinot Noir that shows intense black cherry fruit with rose petals, forest floor and wild spice that brilliantly complements the fine-grained tannins on the palate. The use of 100% whole-bunch in the fermentation gives the wine beautiful structure and complexity. This wine is drinking well now but should last for many years to come"
