"An effortless pinot noir, capturing the fruit intensity and complexity of a warm and very dry season, while presenting it with grace and poise, framed in a silky and refined structure. It's spicy and intense on the bouquet, with mixed spice, berry compote, sarsaparilla, anise and beetroot. The palate has excellent poise of rose hip and violet perfume over a core of dark berry fruit and savoury beetroot persistence, laced seamlessly together with finely structured tannins of silky texture and great persistence."
Tyson Stelzer, Wine Taste Weekly, 4th July 2014.

"Year in, year out, Ashton Hills Vineyard produces the pinot noir goods. It is a remarkable producer. It is to Australian pinot noir what Continental GP4000s are to cycling.

My wife didn't want to drink so I opened a bottle of this and put a glass of it in front of her. I didn't tell her what it was. She took one mouthful and said, Why do you keep doing this to me? " then promptly filled her glass some more. She looked at the label and added, I should have known. She knows her onions. This pinot noir is beautifully fragrant and powerful, spice-shot and lengthy. Fruit is cherry-plummed, coffeed, rich but tangy. When you stop and concentrate on the finish, or the aftertaste, you see how the flavours infuse every aspect; alcohol, tannin and acid. Nothing sits aloof; everything is roped to the flavour. Structurally it's all class but mostly it is, simply, undeniably delicious.
