"In contrast to Blend No 1, this is a 50/50 blend of the two vineyards in its name. The result is elegant, textural, confident, precise, and much more sophisticated than its third tier price might suggest. With lovely lift and vibrancy, it's an elegant pinot noir of crunchy morello cherry and wild strawberry fruit, with excellent, sustaining acidity and finely textured tannins. Notes of rose bud linger on a long and focused finish, confirming one of the finest Piccadillys yet."
Tyson Stelzer, Wine Taste Weekly, 4th July 2014.

"Ashton Hills' Piccadilly Pinot Noir is usually made with grapes grown on both the Ashton Hills estate and Jim Grigg's vineyard next to the cemetery near Uraidla in the Piccadilly Valley/Adelaide Hills. The Grigg vineyard has less clones planted, has deeper soil, and is warmer, drier and less humid than up the hill at Ashton. The Grigg vineyard is usually picked a couple of weeks earlier. The 2013 was both bountiful and high quality and so Stephen George had the luxury of showing off the vineyard/site differences. This No. 2 Piccadilly Valley Pinot Noir is a blend of both vineyards / the No. 1 Pinot Noir release is made with grapes grown on the Grigg vineyard only.

This release is deeply flavoured but fresh, lively and complex. It sings. Cherry-plum notes with mocha and savoury spice notes shot through. Cranberried sweetness/juiciness through the mid palate. Strings of taut-but-well-integrated tannin. Will age well but is drinking very nicely in its youth.
