Silver Medal (Scotch Whisky) - Drinks International 'International Spirits Challenge' 2014!
Launched on Ardbeg Day, 31st of May 2014 and named after its golden whisky 'Auri' and the unmistakable green bottle 'verde'. Matured in casks with toasted cask lids, Manager Mickey Heads said "There's no smoke without fire, but I'm confident its creamy vanilla sweetness will tame its dark mocha coffee side, anyhow, a bit of fire in the belly is no bad thing."
The nose shows tarry and herbal notes with hints of mocha. The palate shows coffee grounds and smoked root vegetables, while maple-cured bacon collides with hot-smoked salmon. The finish is lingering with an attractive smoky vanilla note.
