"We are a small vineyard and winery in the Springfarm sub-region of Clare, set amongst one of the most historically relevant winery and vineyards in Australia. We have small plantings of well established Shiraz, and also recently established Mataro. The winery is rustic in a sense of mod-cons and mechanisation, where the most elaborate piece of equipment would be the coffee machine.

68% Shiraz / 32% Mataro from the Adelina / McDowell-Brown vineyard, from Shiraz vines planted between 1904 and 1920’s. Typically red sandy sites on clay base, slate and limestone predominate. Hand picked, destemmed and fermented with selected yeast. Post pressing the wine was racked to large format french oak (35%) and concrete tank (65%) for maturation.

"Medium weight, fine tannins, layers of spice, restrained red and blue berry fruitiness, a web of Italianate tannins and herbs and brambly savouriness rolled in. It sits tight and dart-shaped in the palate, draws exceptionally long, feels not for now but later yet still has a compelling thing to it that asks you to keep at your glass. Dark-sour cherry, amaro, clove all happening. Superb wine here, all structure and yet all appeal."
