"This is from the Hill River Estate, planted 2000 grown on grey brown loam on shale, mild southerly aspect. Subtle cinnamon and spice overlay over green apple and lemon. Tingly and racy style, plenty of crunch and mouth-watering acidity, a fine flinty texture, lean but not without flavour, and a grip and sour-fruited finish of fine length. Good energy. "Adelina's Polish Hill River Riesling is drawn from Lyn and Robert Jaeschke's Hill River Estate, planted in 2000 on grey brown loam on shale and sandy limestone. As with the Watervale Riesling, the Polish Hill River fruit is destemmed and crushed before pressing; the free-run juice was then settled and racked and fermented to about 11 degrees. The difference here is that the balance of fruit and acidity is such that Col ferments the Polish Hill River bone-dry, whereas the Watervale is bottled with a little residual. It's therefore the more linear expression of the two Rieslings but it's no less impressive." - Bibendum
