The WSET Level 3 Award in Wines

This course is held in Coonawarra at the Wynns John Riddoch Room, 77 Memorial Drive, Coonawarra SA 5263

The Advanced Certificate qualification is designed to give a thorough understanding of the principal wines of the world, and their commercial importance in the world's liquor market.


The qualification will assist those who are required to make professional evaluations of wines, with regard to their commercial value in the retail and hospitality industry. It also provides candidates with an in-depth understanding of wine styles, wine regions, grape varieties, and wine production methods. Holders of the WSET level 3 Advanced Certificate in Wines will be able to describe the characteristics of the principle wines of the world and give information on the key factors influencing style, quality and value.


The qualified student will also be in a position to advise management, to answer customer queries authoritatively, and to make informed selections of wines in a variety of situations. The Course is also suitable for keen enthusiasts wanting to continue their wine studies in a structured manner.

- Tasting Techniques

- Burgundy and Alsace

- Bordeaux and South West France

- Loire, Rhone and Southern France

- Germany, Austria, Hungary

- Italy

- Spain and Portugal

- USA,Canada and Chile,  

- Greece, Argentina and South Africa

- Sparkling wines 

- Fortified wine 


Palate training is part of every lesson.


This course runs 10am - 5pm each day over an intensive period at the Wynns John Riddoch Room, 77 Memorial Drive, Coonawarra SA 5263. An optional preparatory class will be held on Monday 27th January with the course commencing on Friday 31st January, followed by a second class on Saturday 1st Februrary 2020 and then each day from Monday February 17th to Friday February 21st. The exam will be held at 12pm on Friday February 28th.

Please note:

No refunds will be issued within 10 working days prior to the start of the course. Before that period a 75% refund is allowed if a student cancels their enrolment. A 100% refund will apply if Wine House cancels. We encourage students to get materials early, to help prepare ahead for the course, however, please be aware that we will not be able to refund cost of the materials, $180 if the course does not go ahead. This credit can however be used for your materials on a future Level 3 course with Wine House.

There is a re-sit exam fee of $180 if a student does not attend the exam for any reason.
