The Advanced Certificate qualification is designed to give a thorough understanding of the principal wines of the world, and their commercial importance in the world's liquor market.

 

The qualification will assist those who are required to make professional evaluations of wines, with regard to their commercial value in the retail and hospitality industry. It also provides candidates with an in-depth understanding of wine styles, wine regions, grape varieties, and wine production methods. Holders of the WSET level 3 Advanced Certificate in Wines will be able to describe the characteristics of the principle wines of the world and give information on the key factors influencing style, quality and value.

 

The qualified student will also be in a position to advise management, to answer customer queries authoritatively, and to make informed selections of wines in a variety of situations. The Course is also suitable for keen enthusiasts wanting to continue their wine studies in a structured manner.

 

The course covers the following:

- Tasting Techniques

- Burgundy and Alsace

- Bordeaux and South West France

- Loire, Rhone and Southern France

- Germany, Austria, Hungary

- Italy

- Spain and Portugal

- USA,Canada and Chile,  

- Greece, Argentina and South Africa

- Sparkling wines 

- Fortified wine 

 

Palate training is part of every lesson.

 

Please note that the first day will start at 6pm to allow for the course introduction.

The course will run over Monday and Tuesday evenings (6.30-8.30pm), from the 16th March until the 28th April (excluding April 13th).

There will also be one intensive Saturday class held for a full day on the 18th of April (from 11am - 5:30pm).

The examination will be held on Tues the 5th of May at 6pm.

Please note:

No refunds will be issued within 10 working days prior to the start of the course. Before that period a 75% refund is allowed if a student cancels their enrolment. A 100% refund will apply if Wine House cancels.

There is a re-sit exam fee of $180 if a student does not attend the exam for any reason.
