"In 1986, Howard Park became one of the original wine pioneers in Western Australia to champion the cool climate Great Southern region as an area to produce fine elegant wines. Since its inception, Howard Park’s philosophy has been to craft outstanding boutique Australian wines of great subtlety, character, balance and elegance with an uncompromising commitment to quality. The first two wines to be produced by its founder John Wade, were a Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from vineyards in the Denmark and Mount Barker sub regions of the Great Southern... Amongst grape growers Michael has earned a reputation as “bloody tough”, rejecting more fruit than he accepts. As a result, the Howard Park Riesling, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot and regional range or reds are only ever produced in very small quantities, but are noted for their rare balance of elegance and power. They also have a proven history of ageing with increased complexity and interest ensuring these wines are always in demand." - Howard Park
