James Halliday 96 Points!

"This is an exceptionally good cabernet by whatever standards you choose. It is extremely intense, yet its impact only catches you in a silken web, the tannins – while very much present – are so soft, the aromas and flavours are from another realm. Cedar, violets, spices, bay leaf and – of course – blackcurrant."

Wine Front 95 Points!

Single vineyard. Vines planted 1973. 90% cabernet sauvignon but cabernet franc (5%), malbec (2%), merlot (2%) and petit verdot make contributions. 457 dozen made. Released 4-5 years post harvest.

It’s a wine of elegance and power. It marshals the various components and presents them on a polished platter. Blackcurrant, mint, cedarwood, redcurrant and violets. Milk chocolate, just a touch. A fine mesh of tannin, al dente. Beautiful. Textbook.

"It's primarily Cabernet Sauvignon (90%, small additions of Cabernet Franc 5%, Malbec 2%, Merlot 2% and Petit Verdot) making up the balance. Beautiful aromatic offering, it's all cedar and black fruit, set to seasoned oak just framing it so. It's cool in its manifestation, graphite tannin and this steely edge as it presents its components effortlessly and with grace. There's a herbal element to it, sage and a little mint. It's just spot on in how it just delivers its pitch. Classic.

- The Vinsomniac

"Medium to red/purple colour, with a violet and blueberry scented bouquet, which is lifted and aromatic. Very appealing. The wine is medium-bodied and nicely shaped, trim and balanced, with lots of leaf and tobacco nuances throughout the nose and palate. A very smart wine, in an elegant style."
