Chateau Marsyas Rouge 2015

LEBANESE WINE OF COMMANDING CHARACTER. CABERNET, SYRAH AND MERLOT BLEND.

"Deeply rooted in the Levant, the Johnny R. Saadé family translates its passion for vines through the creation of Château Marsyas in the southern part of the Bekaa valley, Lebanon. Renowned for its wine culture, this ancient land reveals itself to be an exceptional place for the creation of a great wine in line with the highest quality standards. Located at an altitude of 900 meters, Château Marsyas is on a an alluvial plain cradled between two mountains.

The soil is red – evidence of iron – which together with white stones forms a clay-limestone growing medium well suited to vines. It is the limestone that gives the Lebanese terroir its special character and adds something to each grape varietals’ classic aromas. Here the normal plum and prune flavours of the Merlot tend towards truffle. The cassis scent in Cabernet Sauvignon leans towards notes of peony.

The limestone also obliges the roots of the vine to reach that much deeper into the ground, in search of the nutrients it needs. This translates in the mouth as a freshness that balances the natural power of the wines.

The wine is made of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot.

Chateau Marsyas Red wine has a dark robe with a purple reflection. The nose exhales black fruits and fine pepper, with a hint of liquorice.
On the palate, the wine develops with power and sweetness. Thick, the tannins are tight and perfectly coated, leaving the sensation of a spherical and sensual form. The fruit, finished with purity, accompanies the wine until its finale
