[SOLD-OUT] Chateau Lanessan 1998

Variety:  Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot
Appellation:  Haut Medoc (Left Bank)
Region:  Bordeaux, France

Owned by the Boutelier family for eight generations, Lanessan is one of the most consistent Cru Bourgeois estates north of Margaux. Affordable and ageworthy, it produces delicious and accomplished claret, especially fine in the top 1998 vintage. Château Lanessan is a vast property covering 230 hectares, 40 of which abut renowned Château Gruaud Larose. Regularly cited by Bordeaux lovers as a favourite, Lanessan deserves to be counted among the classified growths for both reliability and quality. Its wines are powerful, aromatic and generous and, no matter the vintage, age very well. 1998 favoured the early-ripening Merlot grape, which was harvested under perfect conditions. It was then blended with a strict selection of the healthiest Cabernet Sauvignon to ensure a nicely ripe and balanced wine. 18 years on, this Lanessan has stood the test of time. Medium bodied, smooth, with evolved autumn berry fruit and tobacco character.
